Remote Telematics
Airmax Remote™ is a new concept in vehicle telematics. It uniquely interrogates the vehicle’s ECUs and adds GPS and accelerometer data. This is generically known as Remote Vehicle Diagnostics (RVD).
Basically it’s the same tool that garage engineers use when servicing your car but does it symbiotically and connects via an OBD connection and communicates via GSM. It goes beyond standard OBD data which is often restricted to emission data.
Covertly fitted, the module enables users to accurately log mileage and location based trips and calculates costs associated with private and business use.
Data capture from the vehicle’s engine management cluster gives unprecedented access to diagnostic trouble codes (DTC’S) as well as fuel usage and CO2 emissions. In the world of climate change and increased CO2 pollution the system enables the discerning polluter to calculate their actual emissions.
Geo coded KPI’s provide unprecedented knowledge of events which allows the discerning fleet manager to fully manage pre determined and pre configured events.
Fully fitted with accelerometers the vehicle will report an incident and log the supporting data for analysis.

Pay How You Drive ( PHYD ) is a radical new approach to the way that insurance premiums are calculated for drivers who, for a number of reasons, can find themselves in the higher premium category.
It differs substantially from existing mileage/time based schemes by taking into account the actual way that the vehicle is being driven. In almost every aspect it is the fairest method yet devised for calculating motor insurance premiums as it allows you to modify your driving style and as a consequence reduce the accident risk level out on the road.
Being Telematics based the scheme is essentially ‘rules based’ which means that your driving is monitored in real time to ensure that you adhere to the information against which your premium is calculated. If all this sounds a bit ‘big brother’ – it isn’t, it’s simply a mechanism to ensure your commitment to safer driving is being adhered to.
The scheme holds enormous advantages for those drivers willing to drive safely.
Fuel Optimisation Programme
All drivers have a collective responsibility to make the best use of the fuel; it’s an expensive and ,ultimately, limited resource. All modern vehicles use sophisticated Electronic Control Units (ECU) to manage every aspect of the operation of the vehicle. Airmax can optimise most vehicle ECUs to give at least a 7% improvement in diesel fuel economy. This can be much higher on certain vehicle makes.
The ECUs controlling the engine determine all-important aspects of the internal combustion process, including the quantity of fuel, ignition timing and other parameters. In doing so it is trying to optimise the engine’s efficiency under any given set of conditions—hot, cold, heavy load, accelerating etc. Often, the manufacturer is balancing the needs of the world market they are supplying and not taking account of driving and the road conditions, this optimisation is a compromise.
By re-profiling the firmware within the ECUs, through a process called “Fuel Optimisation” we can provide a better set of running parameters for the engine for typical UK driving conditions and styles. Historically ECUs were ‘chipped’ or re-mapped for power or performance but these days this includes specific mapping for fuel economy and resultant lowering of CO2.
Having your cars ECU fuel optimised we arrange all the parameters that are set for compromise to optimise. This in turn gives better fuel consumption, more power, lower CO2 levels at specific, optimum and usual driving conditions, reduces and eliminates flat spots giving you a smoother power curve for a better driving experience. All of this can be achieved without reaching any of the safe tolerance put on the engine and therefore not affecting it’s life.
Our fuel optimisation programme is fully warranted by us and is completely reversible.
This is a new, cost saving facility to record and access information collected as part of the ‘Daily Walkround’ and ‘Planned Safety Inspections’ prescribed in the VOSA “Guide to Maintaining Roadworthiness”
