Garage diagnostics tool design and manufacture

Airmax Technologies exclusively supplies Delphi with DIAMAND 2. This is Delphi’s next generation, wireless electronic diagnostic tool designed for the diesel specialist

Diesel vehicles are becoming ever more dependent on electronics for the management of fuel injection. It is now essential that anyone undertaking diagnostics on diesel vehicles has the tools to communicate directly with the ECU in order to identify faults quickly and accurately. As an OE supplier of diesel fuel injection equipment, Delphi has the knowledge and expertise to meet the diagnostic needs of the modern diesel workshop.

DIAMAND 2 (YDT460) provides workshops with the capability to diagnose faults on every vehicle fitted with an electronic Delphi diesel injection system. The tool transmits dynamic data from the vehicle ECU to a PC or laptop using Wi-Fi technology. The user is therefore able to access a wealth of information from a PC located anywhere within a 10 metre range of the VCI (Vehicle Communication Interface). Consequently diagnostic analysis can be carried out whilst enjoying total freedom of movement around the vehicle.

Delphi pursues a programme of continuous software development on DIAMAND 2 which ensures that the very latest applications are always available to the user. New vehicles fitted with Delphi diesel systems are being launched on a regular basis and we ensure that diagnostic applications are accessible from the first day that these vehicles are in the market place. With older applications also covered, DIAMAND 2 offers unrivalled diagnostics across Delphi electronic technologies from EPIC & DPCN to Common Rail & EUI. Popular all-makes diesel applications further increases the vehicle coverage provided by DIAMAND 2.

In order to ensure that users have the benefit of the constant application development being carried out by Delphi technicians, monthly software updates are available to download from the internet. All workshops that subscribe to the DIAMAND 2 software will have access to these updates (subscriptions are renewable on an annual basis).

Delphi is also committed to extending further the functionality of DIAMAND 2. The presence of a memory card within the wireless VCI will enable data-logging to be developed on the tool. This means that it will be possible to record and view faults that occur during vehicle use. Other planned developments include the addition of remote diagnostics (the ability to share data with other users in real time) and increased ECU-flash capability.
