Airmax Remote, the UK Based Developer and Supplier of Telematics Services, have finished their overhaul on their IT Infrastructure, by migrating and virtualising their entire IT environment and move to the Cloud. With an aim to providing a faster, scalable and more resilient service delivery framework, it also is supported by our Business Continuity Planning (BCP).
As an experienced, independently owned, Telematics Service Provider, we celebrate our 10 year anniversary this year. This is a great achievement and enables us to now build a solid foundation for the growth we are expecting to achieve in both the Public and Private Sectors within next 12 months and 5 years alike.
It is aimed to provide a sustainable infrastructure that will accommodate the launch of our new 3rd Generation hardware, in a bid to commit to ensuring our services have minimal disruption in service 24:7, 365. Our technical teams will now benefit from new Advanced System & Network Monitoring tools that allow health monitoring for both internal and external customers. In line with our BCP, we also are able to now schedule Real-time replication across data centres for increased continuity, enabling us to perform regular, routine backups.
This now means you have peace of mind for superior data security and future proofed compliance, including uncompromising reliability. The solution is compliant with all supplier agreements, as this service continues to be hosted in the UK, which remains Airmax’s USP of total “cradle to grave” supplier with ownership of all IP.
Throughout this project, Airmax introduced Hewlett Packard to improve enterprise storage requiring performance, reduce costs and support future expansion, in line with our SLA of uptimes of 99.9%. “In terms of online storage, the new infrastructure has enabled Airmax to ensure resilience and operational efficiency,” said Ashley Duddle, Managing Director. “Since upgrading the software to HP (Spec), we have seen an immediate reduction in latency, as we have improved the ability to load balance, allowing us to extend the platform capacity by increasing the number of input/output operations per second, which more than doubles our storage performance.”
Through migrating and upgrading the system architecture, the new infrastructure also has enabled us to complete over the air updates, with no additional costs or interruption to its services. This now means that Airmax has been able to provision for double the amount of connections it is able to support on each storage platform, without needing to make an additional financial investment. Moving forward, HP’s scalable design means that if the company requires more storage capacity or capacity at peak hours, we can now strategically spin up more servers within a few minutes.
Duddle summarised by stating that, “Providing real time information is a fundamental part of our service, so having an IT infrastructure which can support this is critical. Customer satisfaction and their experience is the main drive for this project, as there is an association between the performances against their experience. As we process a high volume of real time data each day, it is essential that every area of our infrastructure – especially our storage environment – is able to operate quickly and with extremely low latency.”
The migration project is the start of a new, solid, 5 year IT Strategy, which is driven by our desire to continue compliance in line with the standard of ISO27001: 2013 Information Security Management Systems and its requirements, which has now become a routine requirement for our growing client base.
With this project now finalised, it also completes the spine of our our new disaster recovery plan, which enables us to provide multiple world class data centre locations using the #1 Hosting company, Rackspace.
Steve Perham – Group MD, welcomes the release, adding, “That it’s been months in the planning and finally we have it. Not only will it assist in the smooth running of the existing services, but enable us to now offer future innovative service like our adaptive speed control and self-healing car which are waiting in the wings.”
Now Airmax have completed this major hardware overhaul, it enables us to move onto other areas for review, including operational process improvement, demonstrating that Airmax are still a major supplier in this industry.
